Well, folks, now I've heard it all. Obama...accusing those who oppose his "death" care bill...misnamed "health" care... as being "bearers of false witness".
This is very interesting. On the surface, most people think he is calling those who oppose him in this massive socialist power grab, mere "liars".
But Christians and Jews who study the Torah and the Bible hear what he is saying to them in their "back door".
What he is attempting to quote is the 9th commandment. Only he misquotes it. "Thou shalt not bear false witness...against thy neighbor".
This is a much more serious offense than lying. This implies causing the prosecution and conviction in a public court due to lying about the one being prosecuted.
This is serious. We would call it perjury in today's language. Still a serious offense and punishable by law...but for the ancient Hebrews, anyone caught lying during their testimony could be forced to submit to whatever punishment would have been imposed upon the accused — even including death.
It must be remembered that the legal system of the time didn’t include a position of official state prosecutor. In effect, anyone coming forward to accuse someone of a crime and “bear witness” against them served as prosecutor for the people.
Obama is, in effect, going through the back door of Jews and Christians and saying..."in resisting my "health" care bill, you are putting yourselves in position to be judged by God and by man. And man's judgment might require...the death penalty... Jews, and Christians... do you hear me?"
And we do hear him. Louder than he thinks. I see this as a veiled threat against the entire Judeo-Christian segment of our population if we buck him.
