Well, folks, we're entering football season. A sport, that I have tried to understand for years...but cannot. However, for the sake of my husband who is an avid fan...I have acquired certain understandings. I know when to cheer and when to pray for "our" side. I know team colors and I understand certain strategies.
I know this, because he has told me "coach" stories repeatedly over the course of our marriage and I have gleaned insights from them that I apply to other areas of my life.
One of his favorite coach stories is of an after game talk back in the locker room after a huge loss by the team...a crushing loss that left everyone sweaty and dejected.
The coach stood up in front of the beaten team and said, "ok, boys, I think it's time to get back to the basics. Then he held up the old "pigskin"...and said, "This...is a football".
Friends, I think that's what I'm feeling today. This country needs to get back to the "basics". They need to understand who their enemy is...and how they have been duped by his strategy.
And this enemy does have a strategy. It's insidious and it works. And it works the best...when you don't understand it. When you don't see it coming. It enfolds you with it's luring appeal until it has the victory over you.
But isn't that true of all "strategies". From the brawn of football teams... to the brains of the chess players... it's all about strategy.
And if you don't know what your opponents strategy is...you are doomed to loose.
Folks...we can't afford to loose this one. If we do...we loose America.
I came across a video today...a documentary that was made in 1982. It shows the strategy of terrorism and how it has worked in other countries...and worked well. And it finishes with a chilling ending...about America. And this...long before most Americans were familiar with the term, "terrorism"...or twin towers...or jihad. It is...almost prophetic.
I am posting here in it's entirety. I'll tell you now, it's 60 minutes long. But it will be the best 60 minutes you could invest in your understanding of what's happening in America...right now.
I pray that you will take the time to watch it. And see it as the coach...standing in front of the team...saying, "This, boys, is a football".
It's definitely time to get back to basics. Kate~
